Now, some of you may be thinking that this is a bit of a stretch as far as geekiness goes, but I don’t. Plus, it’s my site, and I love the San Jose Sharks! As I am sure everyone knows, hockey season is now upon us. I am super excited to see Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, and the rest of the Sharks go out and kick some major ass this season. For you fellow Sharks fans, I know you bleed teal even in the off-season. So, to celebrate this epic return of Sharks hockey (and their first win of the season yesterday!), I present to you: Bleed Teal Cupcakes.
Ingredients:
Cake & Filling
Vanilla cake mix
Blueberry syrup
Food coloring
Vanilla frosting
Blue sprinkles
Chocolate bar
Combine the cake mix as directed on the box. Add in 9 drops of blue food coloring and 1 drop of yellow to get that perfect Sharks teal color. Bake in teal cupcake holders and let cool. Cut a hole about halfway into the cupcake. Mix together the frosting and blueberry syrup while adding in some food coloring to make it the perfect tint. Fill the hole in the cupcake with the mixture.
Mix in blue and yellow food coloring into the remaining frosting. Using a piping bag or ziplock, frost on the cupcakes to look a little like waves. Add some blue sprinkles to get a shimmery look. Cut a portion of the chocolate bar to look like a shark fin and place atop the cupcake.
Now you are ready to sit down, pop open a brew (or pop), and enjoy your Bleed Teal Cupcake while cheering on the Sharks!
