Oh. My. Glob. Who ever said that cartoons aren’t art? The latest show at the Mondo gallery for Adventure Time in Austin, Texas proves that not only does that cartoon prompt some killer art from fans, but it also appeals to a wide audience, not just kids!

Austin Adventure Time fans lined up outside the gallery to get a look at the artwork and perhaps buy a print or two from this unique show featuring the cartoon.

The Adventure Time art show started on Friday, April 27 at the Mondo Gallery. Colorful characters from the Land of Ooo decorated the walls along with artistic interpretations of characters and episodes of Pendleton Ward’s show by a variety of artists. The art ranged in medium from 8bit looking paintings to watercolors to needle points to skateboards. The variety of mediums and style helped to showcase the great variety and depth of the show.

We got to talk to both Ward and the Creative Director of Mondo, Justin Ishmael, about the show, fan art, and posters. You can hear us chatting with these fine gentleman in a CRASH DOWN podcast!

While walking around, gleefully looking at the art, patrons could munch on cupcakes based off characters from the show like Jake, Finn, Lumpy Space Princess, and my personal favorite, Lady Rainicorn!

Some of the art is available for purchase as prints at the gallery, and the artwork itself is for sale as well. If you are interested in any of them contact Mondo.
