Batarang Cookies

One of the most anticipated movies of the year (ok, the last 10 years probably) comes out in just over a week …. The Dark Knight Rises. Cue applause. More applause. Batman has always been a huge part of my love of comics, and the Christopher Nolan series of films has taken my love to a whole new level. To celebrate the last installment of this epic series and prepare for your long wait in line for that midnight showing, make some Batarang Cookies!

Ingredients:

1 Cup flour
3/4 Cup sugar
1 Egg
1/4 Cup butter
A pinch of baking powder
1 Tblspn Vanilla Extract

Powdered Sugar
Almond Milk
Black frosting dye
Silver Pearl Dust

So basically, these are sugar cookies cut in the shape of the latest Batman logo – that is also used to hurl as a weapon at bad guys (wouldn’t try with the cookies… it probably wouldn’t be as effective). Mix the flour and baking powder together. Fold in the egg, butter, sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until doughy. Roll out and use a knife to cut out the Batman logo. I would suggest flouring the dough and knife to make it less sticky. Once your cookies are cut, place them into a preheated oven set to 350.

While they are baking, mix together powdered sugar and almond milk until an icing consistency is achieved.

Add in just a small amount of the black frosting dye to get a nice black icing. Pull your cookies out when they start to get a nice golden color and aren’t gooey. Let them cool a little then frost them with the icing. The icing should coat the cookie closely. Let the icing dry then brush on the silver pearl dust.

Snack heroically on these tasty crime-fighting treats. Because they are the cookies you deserve… and also the cookies you need right now.
